The MEE Framework
Thanks to more than 200 partner organisations, we have 100’s of learning journeys framed by big questions organised under seven sustainability themes, bringing these principles to life. We have designed the framework to not only deliver content but to empower children with a sense of agency and foster a lifelong connection to nature and climate action.
Following our very successful pilot in 2021 with our 15 pioneer schools, the Ministry of Eco Education has expanded rapidly, reaching hundreds of primary and secondary schools – with every school in the United Kingdom now registered.
Our vision is clear – it is imperative we have a greener education system with sustainability at its core. For this to succeed we believe we must support teachers to integrate sustainability across their existing curriculum.
In 2024/25, we created and delivered 68 Learning Journeys, curating over 400 Resources and Opportunities. We trained more than 3,000 teachers in person and over 5,000 online, provided 1:1 support to 65 teachers, delivered multiple in-person and online events, and produced 60 supporting videos. Thousands of teachers also accessed our regional documents, which bring together relatable climate - and nature-themed materials. In addition, we engaged over 60 volunteer Activators to support teachers in embedding the MEE framework.
Looking ahead
We aim to continue to support teachers in embedding the Ministry of Eco Education framework across all schools and subjects, with the intention of fostering a greener Britain and inspiring young people to develop a passion for the environment, explore their interests, and ultimately pursue green skills and careers for the future.
Our Impact
Our Ministry of Eco Education approach has already proven its impact, increasing teachers’ confidence, nurturing student hope, and strengthening community engagement. This success is underpinned by robust training materials that support educators in addressing wider ecological challenges and translating them into practical classroom action.
All schools can access the free support, expertise, and inspiration of the MEE team. Our flexible and adaptable approach allows teachers to engage with our curated journey and resources in ways that best suit their needs, taking as much or as little inspiration as they choose.
We provide expert guidance and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to enhance staff knowledge and ignite confidence and enthusiasm for sustainability across schools.
At the heart of our offer is a detailed five-step whole-school journey, incorporating surveys and curriculum mapping, and drawing together resources and support from hundreds of organisations. With our growing influence across the UK, we are not simply delivering a curriculum - we are building a movement. Through a cohesive framework, practical tools, and strong strategic partnerships, we inspire students to engage meaningfully with sustainability.
We remain committed to delivering public benefit by embedding sustainability within education, empowering young people to become environmentally aware and active citizens, and helping to create a more sustainable future for generations to come.
