Earthfest is a festival of sustainability that takes place in central London each summer, bringing together eco-conscious consumers, innovative brands, schools and sustainability experts for a weekend of education, inspiration and action.

In June 2025, the Green Britain Foundation partnered with Earthfest to help make the event even more inclusive by reaching young people directly in their schools. Together, we invited all 3,000 London schools to join the celebration, sharing curriculum-linked sustainability activities for pupils to complete throughout the week.

The highlight of the collaboration was a special Live Lesson, streamed to classrooms across the capital. The interactive session featured an interview with Mete Coban, Deputy Mayor of London, alongside a bird-spotting quiz and a hands-on recycling and waste challenge. Pupils had the opportunity to ask Mete questions about how London can become the greenest city in the world.

The response from schools was outstanding; 240 schools took part in the Live Lesson, engaging more than 24,000 young people in a shared experience of climate education and action.

This collaboration demonstrated the power of connection between city-wide events and classroom learning, showing that sustainability can be both local and collective, inspiring action at every level.
